Sridala Swami studied film editing at Asia's premiere Film school, The Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. While there, she won the Kamlakar Award for best editor. She has edited documentaries, commercials and serials and has taught courses on cinema at the Delhi School of Communication and at the Lady Shriram College For Women in Delhi.
Swami's first book of poetry, A Reluctant Survivor, published by the Sahitya Akademi in 2007, was short-listed for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Award. She is working on her second book and also conducts film appreciation workshops and creative writing workshops.
Her first solo exhibition of photographs, titled Voice and Data in India was displayed at the gallery of the Centre of Knowledge Societies in Bangalore, in 2003. This is her first exhibition of image and text and has been made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Media, Hamburg, the Goethe Zentrum Hyderabad and Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad. |
