NEW DELHI: French language labs will be set up in 33 Delhi government schools where students will learn the language and about Francophone culture.
One of the labs was opened recently in a School of Specialised Excellence in Sector 17, Rohini. The language will be taught to students of Classes VI-X in 33 schools, all affiliated with the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE).
The education department has tied up with the French Institute of India, which has developed the teaching modules. The new lab has been started by the French Institute and its CSR partners – Hero MotoCorp and Franco-Indian Education Trust (FIET).
The project will cater to over 3,000 students. So far, 12 teachers have also been trained in linguistic and pedagogical skills.
Prashant K Lahoti, the managing trustee of the Franco Indian Education Trust, said: “We will set up more French language labs soon. This will open doors for more students to explore the French language and get access to the best educational institutions in France.”
Prshant Lahoti of Kalakriti art gallery, Hyderabad, has been collecting vintage photographs, maps, and oleographs for the last two decades. Art enthusiasts in Hyderabad have been privy to some of these rare photographs and maps from Kalakriti Archives being showcased at curated exhibitions in recent years. Now, the gallery is displaying 90 oleographs and chromolithographs from its 500-odd archival collection.
The watercolour medium reflects bold realism and spontaneity. A sense of movement and energy became a crucial aspect of these works of art.
